Theme Installation

Summary: Installing your WordPress theme is simple using either the upload or FTP method. Extract the downloaded file, locate listy.zip, and follow the provided steps to upload and activate your theme for a fully customized site.

Please extract the zipped package downloaded from ThemeForest to your desktop. Inside the extracted package, you’ll find the “listy.zip” file, also known as “listy_main.zip”, which contains the WordPress theme.

The theme can be installed in two ways:

WordPress upload – This method is likely the simplest for most users. Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Appearance > Themes.

“Log in to your WordPress dashboard, then navigate to ‘Appearance’ in the left-hand menu, and select ‘Themes’.”

2. Click on ‘Add New’.

3. Clicking on the Upload Theme button.

4. Click on ‘Choose File’ and locate the listy.zip file.

After selecting Upload Theme, click Choose File. Select the theme .zip folder you’ve downloaded, then click Install Now.

5. Click Activate once complete.

After clicking Install, a message will appear that the theme installation was successful. Click Activate to make the theme live on your website.

FTP Method

If you’re unable to install the theme using the previous method, you can attempt the following alternative method.

1. Download the FTP Client to your computer.

To start this process, you’ll need to download an FTP Client onto your computer. An FTP Client is a software tool that enables you to access, add, or delete files on your website server.

2. Create an FTP account through your hosting provider’s control panel or dashboard.

“To proceed, you’ll have to access your hosting provider account via the FTP Client. Normally, setting up your FTP user account is done within your hosting dashboard, but the process varies across hosting providers. Typically, when you create a new account, the hosting provider provides you with a username and password, which you’ll use to set up your FTP Client account.”

3. Download your theme file and then extract/unzip it.

If you haven’t already downloaded your theme file to your computer, please do so now. Some companies include additional files in the download folder, but you only need the .zip file for uploading your theme. After downloading your files, you’ll need to unzip or extract the .zip file. You can accomplish this by right-clicking on the .zip file and selecting “Extract.”

4. To install the theme, upload the theme folder to your WordPress dashboard.

In your FTP Client, locate the root directory of your WordPress installation. Then, navigate to the “wp-content” folder and select “Themes”. Upload the entire folder that you previously unzipped into this location.

5. Activate After Completion

After uploading the theme, you have to activate it. Navigate to the Appearance > Themes page from your WordPress dashboard to activate the theme. You should see your new theme as an option under your downloaded themes. Select the new theme and click Activate to make the theme live on your website.
