The Mentions with Notifications feature in Forumax Pro instantly alerts users when someone replies or mentions them, keeping discussions active and engagement seamless in your forum.

Enable Notifications

To activate this feature, go to:
Dashboard → Forumax→ Notification

From there, toggle the Show / Hide switch to ON.

Once enabled, a notification icon (bell) will automatically appear on your site’s main menu. You can customize its position, icon, and spacing directly from the settings panel.

⚙️ Available Customization Options

Inside the Notification Settings panel, you’ll find a variety of customization controls to perfectly match your site’s design and layout.

Basic Settings

• Show / Hide: Turn the entire notification feature ON or OFF.
• Menu Location: Choose where to display the notification (e.g., Main Menu) or manually define a selector.
• Gap: Adjust the spacing between the menu and the notification avatar/icon.
• Icon: Upload a custom notification icon.
• Unread Counter: Toggle the unread message counter beside the icon.

Dropdown Notification Box

Fine-tune how the dropdown notification list appears:

• Width: Set a custom width for the dropdown box.
• Gap: Adjust the space between the avatar icon and the dropdown box.
• Border: Customize the border’s thickness, color, and style (solid, dashed, etc.).
• Border Radius: Add rounded corners to the dropdown for a smoother design.

Header (Head) Settings

• Enable / Disable: Choose whether to display a header section inside the dropdown notification box.

Color Management

Control every visual detail to match your site theme:

• Title Colors: Set separate colors for normal and hover states.
• Link Colors: Customize link colors for both normal and hover modes.
• Date Colors: Define color styles for date text.
• Background: Change the background color of notifications.
• Hover Background: Customize the hover background color for active notifications.

How Mentions Notifications Work

When a logged-in user replies to a forum topic and mentions another user (for example, using “@username”), the mentioned user instantly receives a real-time notification in the top menu bell icon.

Clicking the icon opens a dropdown list showing all recent mentions and replies.
Each notification includes:

• The user who mentioned you
• The topic title
• The time of the mention

From the dropdown, the admin can click any notification to visit the specific reply or topic directly.

When you receive a mention, you can also manage your reply from the dropdown or topic area.
The available actions include:

• Edit – Modify your reply
• Move / Split – Reorganize discussions
• Trash / Spam – Remove unwanted replies
• Unapprove – Revoke an approved reply if needed
